A journey through the history of the Age of Discoveries in the company of Eduardo Bueno.
Portugal was the starting point for some of the voyages that transformed world history. In this experience, we travel across the country following the paths, characters, and places that help to understand the formation of Portugal and the period of the Great Navigations.
From Lisbon to the Algarve, passing through Tomar, Batalha, Coimbra, Belmonte, Covilhã, Santarém, and Sines, it will be 10 days of history, heritage, and discoveries, accompanied by journalist and writer Eduardo Bueno.

About the itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Lisbon
Arrival in Lisbon and transfer to the hotel. In the evening, welcome dinner at a typical restaurant.
Day 2: Lisbon and the Discoveries
A day dedicated to the most emblematic places of Portuguese expansion. We will visit the Jerónimos Monastery, Pastéis de Belém, the Hermitage of Saint Jerome, Belém Tower, and the Monument to the Discoveries. The day also includes a two-hour private boat tour.
Day 3: Lisbon and the Manueline Apex
We will explore Chiado, Baixa, Alfama, and São Jorge Castle, understanding how Lisbon became one of the richest cities in Europe during the reign of King Manuel I.
Day 4: Templars and the Consolidation of the Kingdom
Departure from Lisbon towards Coimbra, with visits to Tomar and Batalha. We will visit the Convent of Christ and the Monastery of Batalha, exploring the history of the Templars, the Order of Christ, and the consolidation of the Portuguese kingdom.
Day 5: Coimbra and Portuguese Knowledge
Visit to the University of Coimbra and the historic city center, learning about the university’s role in training administrators, chroniclers, and intellectuals connected to the Portuguese Empire.
Day 6: Explorers and Paths to the East
Day trip to Belmonte and Covilhã. The day covers the stories of Pedro Álvares Cabral and Pêro da Covilhã and their connections to the routes that led Portugal to the East.
Day 7: Paths to the South
Departure from Coimbra towards Albufeira, with visits to Santarém and the tomb of Pedro Álvares Cabral.
Day 8: The Heart of Maritime Expansion
Lagos and Sagres. We will visit the Sagres Fortress, the beaches, and the historic center of Lagos, places directly associated with the beginning of Portuguese maritime expansion.
Day 9: Vasco da Gama and the Route to India
Return to Lisbon with a visit to Sines, the birthplace of Vasco da Gama, a key figure in opening the maritime route to India.
Day 10: Farewell to Portugal
Transfer from the hotel to the airport and end of services.
